Anthropic certifications

# Anthropic certifications, explained.

Anthropic’s certification program is the set of four proctored exams that carry the Claude name: two for engineers, one for non-developers, and a professional tier for senior architects. Here they are side by side, with who each one is for and how anyone outside a partner company becomes eligible to sit them.

## What an Anthropic certification is

An Anthropic certification is a proctored, closed-book exam credential issued to the individual who passes it. Delivery is through Pearson VUE. Scoring runs 100 to 1,000 with 720 to pass. Access is open to organizations in the Claude Partner Network and counts toward their partner standing, and the credential is valid for 12 months with a free on-time renewal.

## The four exams compared

| Exam | Who it is for | Questions | Fee |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [CCAR-F](https://youraidept.com/network/ccar-f) Claude Certified Architect – Foundations | Engineers and solution architects who design systems on Claude: agent architectures, tool integrations, and the context strategies that hold them together. | 60 items in 120 minutes | $125 per attempt |
| [CCDV-F](https://youraidept.com/network/ccdv-f) Claude Certified Developer – Foundations | The exam guide describes the target candidate precisely: an engineer with one to five years of experience, at least six months hands-on with Claude or comparable LLM systems, proficient in Python or TypeScript, and fluent with REST APIs and CLI tools. | 53 items in 120 minutes | $125 per attempt |
| [CCAO-F](https://youraidept.com/network/ccao-f) Claude Certified Associate – Foundations | Day-to-day Claude users in non-engineering roles: operations, marketing, project management, education, communications, and general knowledge work. | 60 items in 120 minutes | $99 per attempt |
| [CCAR-P](https://youraidept.com/network/ccar-p) Claude Certified Architect – Professional | Senior and principal architects who own Claude systems end to end: the design, the governance around it, and the client or executive conversations that keep it funded. | 63 items in 120 minutes | $175 per attempt |

All four run 120 minutes, allow up to 4 attempts per rolling 12 months, and are valid for 12 months. Fees marked reported have not appeared on an official public page yet; the full breakdown is on [the cost page](https://youraidept.com/network/claude-certification-cost).

## Which one to take

- ### [CCAR-F: Claude Certified Architect – Foundations](https://youraidept.com/network/ccar-f) Against the rest of the program: CCDV-F tests hands-on application code where CCAR-F tests system design, CCAO-F is for non-developers, and CCAR-P is the professional tier that builds on this exam. If you sell or lead Claude implementation work, CCAR-F is the one to sit first; it is also the credential the market shortens to CCA-F.
- ### [CCDV-F: Claude Certified Developer – Foundations](https://youraidept.com/network/ccdv-f) Against the rest of the program: CCAR-F tests system design where CCDV-F tests the code itself, CCAO-F is the non-developer track, and CCAR-P extends the architect side. Developers who spend their days shipping Claude features fit here; a third of the marks are applications and integration, which no other exam in the program weights so heavily.
- ### [CCAO-F: Claude Certified Associate – Foundations](https://youraidept.com/network/ccao-f) Against the rest of the program: this is the only exam that requires no engineering background. CCAR-F and CCDV-F are for engineers, and CCAR-P is the senior architect tier. For operators, marketers, PMs, and analysts who want a verifiable Claude credential, CCAO-F is the entire conversation.
- ### [CCAR-P: Claude Certified Architect – Professional](https://youraidept.com/network/ccar-p) Against the rest of the program: CCAR-P sits on top of CCAR-F, extending the same blueprint into governance, stakeholder communication, and lifecycle management. It is the only exam aimed at senior and principal architects; everything else in the program is a foundations tier.

## Becoming eligible

Registration starts in the Anthropic Partner Academy, which is open to people affiliated with a Claude Partner Network organization. If your employer is a partner, ask for access. If not, a partner firm can extend eligibility to its members; that is what YAID does for independent AI engineers. The walkthrough is on [the registration page](https://youraidept.com/network/register-for-claude-certification), and the Partner Academy itself is explained on [its own page](https://youraidept.com/network/anthropic-partner-academy).

## Anthropic certification FAQ

### Is Anthropic certification the same as Claude certification? +

Yes. Anthropic runs the program and the credentials carry the Claude name: Claude Certified Architect, Developer, and Associate. People search for both names.

### How many Anthropic certifications are there? +

Four as of mid-2026: CCAR-F (Architect Foundations), CCDV-F (Developer Foundations), CCAO-F (Associate Foundations, for non-developers), and CCAR-P (Architect Professional).

### Which Anthropic certification should I take first? +

Engineers who design systems or sell implementation work usually start with CCAR-F. Developers who ship application code fit CCDV-F. Non-developers take CCAO-F. CCAR-P is the professional tier and builds on CCAR-F.

### Which Anthropic certification is hardest? +

CCAR-P is the senior tier and extends the Foundations blueprint into governance and lifecycle scenarios. Among the Foundations exams, difficulty depends on your background: CCDV-F rewards hands-on API work, CCAR-F rewards design judgment.

### Do Anthropic certifications expire? +

Yes. Each is valid for 12 months, with a free on-time renewal assessment on the Anthropic Partner Academy.

### Who can take Anthropic certification exams? +

People affiliated with a Claude Partner Network organization. There is no individual enrollment; independent engineers usually join a partner firm such as YAID to become eligible.
